PODCASTS
CBC Radio: Words At Large, for Canadians who love books.
EnvironMinute brings you news every week day about the environment and your health.
Hall of Mirrors: Tales of Horror and the Grotesque.
Lots of interesting things out there.
Who needs a radio, TV, books or stereo system anymore?
Not sure when I would have time to do all this reading, listening, watching; while vacuuming?

google docs
Great stuff! The spreadsheet was much easier to use than regular excel.
This google feature would be great for clubs and amateurs of all sorts to get together and share ideas, write proposals, grants, etc.
Really this is just like our shared drive without all the controls. Or at least the members have control. I suppose it could be used for work purposes and give IT a break.
OK I take that back. I am unable to save changes to the shared google doc. Everytime time I try I get a message telling about a network error and to try again. I've tried many, many times but no luck.
What am I doing wrong?

del.icio.us
I found the whole thing rather confusing and cluttered at first. It took some time to figure out that searching was better than browsing. Going in with specific topics did bring up some very worthwhile and interesting sites.
I did come across a number of sites that were no longer working. Also there are a lot of pay for use sites listed which I guess businesses are putting into delicious themselves.
While I did find some interesting links, I don't think the web social scene is of particular interest to me personally.

The world of RSS
This week I tried out subscriptions to 3 RSS feeds:
Library Journal News
CBC Toronto News
CanadianLiving.com /food
I can see that this feature will be very useful to me, but I will have to be careful because I can already see that having too many feeds could quickly become overwhelming. Having too much info coming in would just make me feel more behind.
Library Journal News will definately be useful and I will go look for more professional info feeds. Since I no longer get to see any professional journals on a regualr basis at work, this will be my main source for library and book related news. So glad I learned about this!
The CBC National News at 10 p.m. is my major news source but that leaves out the local scene. The local news feed will be a useful supplement to the Toronto section of the Globe and Mail.
My son lives in Halifax, so I might add a Halifax news feed to keep up with what's going on in his world.
Not sure about keeping up with food or gardening ideas this way. I think I prefer to sit in the garden with a cool drink or by the fire with a warm one while leafing through a glossy magazine
